Axor Bouroullec

Axor Bouroullec, by design duo Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, is as parent company Hansgrohe calls ‘a collection that gives freedom to your individual ideas of composition’. I am not sure I would describe it in the same way, but I do very much appreciate the language that runs though the products.

The brothers Bouroullec have created a collection that you can mix and match with ease, with more than 70 products for the bathroom –- from the mixer to the accessories, from the washbasin to the bathtub –- you have the freedom to compose a bathroom that you love.

The individual elements of the mixers can easily be placed at diverse places all around (or even over) the washbasin. Just as you like it and just as it plays to your individual needs.

Ronan and Erwan worked to the motto “Feel Free to Compose” when developing this collection for Axor by Hansgrohe.

I like the idea that the user is part-designer, using an intechangeable set of elements. That is not an easy brief to design to — most designers prefer to complete the job rather than leave that final stage open to interpretation.

I have to applaud the brothers for creating a modular language with these products, yet it certainly feels like each element has been carefully thought through…
